Misunderstandings
Sometimes, Sif really loved the fact that Heimdall was her brother, and that he indulged her enough to humor her in reporting when Loki returned to the palace. She’d been even more upset when she’d been released from the healing rooms to find him gone, worried when she’d had no word from him, no visits, nothing.
She’d wracked her brain, trying to think of a reason why he might be avoiding her now, but was hard pressed to come up with one beyond the troubling thought that maybe he’d tired of her. Maybe he did believe her too large a chink in his armor, too great a weakness. She didn’t want to dwell on that, had tried her best to keep from fretting on it, although as the days stretched out, it became harder.
So when word arrived from her brother that Loki was currently in the throne room with Thor, she held off joining them, heading instead to Loki’s private chambers to lie in wait for him. She sank down behind one of his worktables, making herself comfortable as she waited. And if one of his overly large tomes hid her mostly from view… well, that was his fault for having such large books in the way, wasn’t it?

The movement one of habit, he turned his face to press a kiss against her neck.

"Well, that was lovely," she murmured with a happy sigh, rubbing her cheek against his own as she wrapped her arms about him and dragged him down atop her.
"Have I reminded you today how much I love you? And that's not just the magnificent sex talking, either."

"I love you as well," he said softly. He didn't say such emotional things often, but it seemed important now, as if that, too, could salvage all that had gone wrong.

"Feeling any better, dearest?" she murmured, turning her head slightly so she could press a kiss to Loki's brow.

He sighed, fingers moving lightly against her side. "I have missed you. Never think that I have not."

She kissed him again at his admission, her arms tightening faintly about him. "It is good to know, all the same," she replied, her voice still soft. "I feared you blamed me for what happened."
no subject
He shook his head. "Never. I know well who to blame for what has happened. There has just been... much to deal with."
no subject
When he shook his head, she pulled back a slight bit, just far enough to cup his face between her hands as she met his gaze, her own turning serious. "Darling, not everything must be dealt with by your hands. You don't have to do everything alone."

But perhaps it would be, once the war with Jotunheim was seen to.

Sif gave a quiet sigh, still cupping his face as she leaned into kiss him once more, slow and sweet. "Rest now, love. There are no dire tasks that need your attention this night. Relax, and sleep. I will be right here to guard you from unpleasant dreams any more tonight."

He sighed, shaking his head and closing his eyes. "I must away early in the morning. There's more I must know if I'm to grasp the situation fully." He did find her hand, lightly squeezing it. "But I believe no unpleasant dreams will trouble me."
