Coulson just gave him a Look. It probably looked a lot like all of his other looks but he liked to think that facial expressions were for lesser men. Barton had never seen his unsure face. He just thought he had.

"We don't know or I would have briefed you on it before coming out here." He didn't take anyone in totally blind if he could help it, so part of the reason they'd brought in Barton was the he could hit the target anyway. "Could be nothing, but if we're really looking at a - doorway to a galaxy halfway across the universe, I don't particularly like the idea of leaving it alone and hoping no one else..."
He had been expecting a subtle aurora. There was nothing subtle about the swirling sphere of light spiraling down from clouds that definitely hadn't been there just a moment before. "Drive."
